We don’t say it out loud, but summer is coming to an end. On 17 August, Akee invites you to see all the good things we’ve managed to do during this warm season.

The event will feature: Architecture Uncomfortable Workshop (AUW), M. Aerobica, Dr. Vilius Dranseika, Martynas Germanavičius, Daura Polonskytė, Vilius Vaitiekūnas, and Miglė Vyčinaitė.

In Aleknaičiai, Pakruojis district, beekeeping traditions, the clay found in the depths of the earth, the teaching tools left on the grounds of the former village school, and the images captured by the village teacher have become sources of inspiration for artistic and research practices this summer.

Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the project ‘The Chaff More Precious than the Wheat’ by the Budapest-based architectural collective Architecture Uncomfortable Workshop (AUW) and participate in their workshops. We will present the artworks and research by artists Ignas Pavliukevičius, Visvaldas Morkevičius, Bon Alog, and Miglė Vyčinaitė, who were in residence at Akee this summer. Philosopher Dr. Vilius Dranseika will discuss humans and other domesticated species. Throughout the day, visitors will be invited to explore the Clay-Ground, an outdoor space for clay games and creative experiments created earlier this summer by architect Gabrielė Černiavskaja, artist Andrej Polukord, curator Kotryna Markevičiūtė, and educator Vilius Vaitiekūnas, and enjoy local delicacies provided by Lukas Klimkevičius from 15:00 until late.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

We invite guests staying overnight to bring their own tents, sleeping bags, and mattresses. Accommodation will be available in one of the Akee spaces (please bring mattresses and sleeping bags) as well as in the outdoor area (please bring tents).

Don’t forget that we’ll be spending time in nature – make sure to bring cooler and warmer clothing, sun and rain protection, and mosquito and tick repellents. There are also beehives buzzing around in the Akee area. Be sensitive and attentive – bees can sense this and coexist kindly.

We love nature and share sustainable practices, so if you have space in your vehicles, we encourage you to share the ride, so there is more space in the Akee area for us instead of cars. You can also reach us by bus to Pakruojis. Once you arrive at Pakruojis station, you can reach the event site by taxi or ask your friends who have arrived to give you a lift.

Spread the word, invite friends, bring what we may have missed mentioning but you think might be needed.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
