SEASONAL OPERATION

The spaces at Akee Residency are not heated; therefore, depending on weather conditions, the residency operates seasonally from May to September.

WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS

Akee is located in a two-story building and offers both private and shared spaces adapted for creative residencies and various artistic practices. The residency infrastructure allows for comfortable living, working, and collaboration for both individual residents and groups.

On the second floor, there is a private apartment equipped with its own shower, toilet, kitchen, and combined working and sleeping area. The same floor also includes four residential rooms with beds. Two of the rooms are interconnected, while the other two can be joined if needed. Each room is equipped with electricity, a double or single bed, a table with chairs, and internet access. There is also a shared shower and toilet on the second floor.

The ground floor features a 60 sq. m studio space suitable for movement and dance practices, a 40 sq. m common area, and a kitchen that can accommodate up to ten people. This floor also includes a shared shower and toilet for residents and visitors.

The residency additionally provides a laundry area, ensuring comfortable long-term stays for residents.

CREATIVE AND WORKING FACILITIES

Residents have access to the woodworking, metalworking and other material processing equipment, film cameras and video editing equipment available at Akee.

Akee’s activities are supported by the construction equipment rental company MB Lairent (www.lairent.lt), so if residents have a specific need for woodworking, metalworking or other material handling, measuring or earth drilling and excavation equipment, please consult the MB Lairent catalogue and inform the Akee team in advance of your equipment needs.

MOVEMENT AND BODY PRACTICE STUDIO

The movement and body practice studio is equipped with four yoga mats and a portable Bluetooth speaker. If additional sound equipment or technical setup is required, residents are kindly asked to contact us in advance. Upon request, the residency can arrange additional sound or other technical equipment through partner or collaborating institutions.

Akee territory

The Akee site is located on the eastern edge of the village of Aleknaičiai. Akee territory consists of 2 ha of farmland, currently used by local farmers, and 1.8 ha of a former school site. 1/2 of its perimeter is bordered by farmland and the other part by neighbours.
