This edition of the programme centres on BC architects & studies & materials, a Belgium-based interdisciplinary practice internationally recognised for its work with locally sourced materials, regenerative construction, and circular building material production. BC's work spans the entire architectural process—from material research, design, and prototyping to building material production, construction, and education—and is widely regarded as one of Europe's leading examples of how architecture can contribute to systemic change within the construction sector.

Contemporary architecture is increasingly returning to material as a starting point for thinking. Among the wide range of materials in use today, clay stands out for its ability to operate across multiple roles at once – as a structural system, as a surface, as a binding agent, and as a carrier of cultural memory. Historically, it has shaped both everyday objects and entire architectural landscapes. Today, it is regaining relevance in response to evolving building regulations, technological developments, and the need to rethink both construction and creative processes.

A Longer Road will focus on contemporary cultural practices in the regions as a process that often requires alternative paths—ones that diverge from the habitual modes of operation and creative practices of major urban cultural institutions. The regions are becoming places where various symptoms and expectations of today’s world intersect: from EU social and cultural development strategies to the economic and environmental transformations brought about by “gigafactories” rising along the roadside.

On December 17th at 6:00 PM in Panevėžys, in the new “Garsas” cinema hall of the contemporary art museum Stasys Museum, the first Aukštaitija Cultural Assembly will take place.

After the wave of protests by the cultural community—and with our determination to defend democratic values and protect culture from those who see it merely as an obstacle to personal ambition still strong—we are gathering for the Aukštaitija Cultural Assembly. We will meet to get acquainted, to listen to one another, and to clearly voice what we seek as a region, what we believe in, and what kind of future for Lithuanian culture we want to create.

The camp programme is designed and implemented by LIAA members – artists Gailė Griciūtė, Ieva Rižė, and educational programme curator Vilius Vaitiekūnas. The theme of this year’s camp – Awakened Animals – invites children to engage in imaginative and sensory games that move away from the usual rules of play and the everyday sense of the body. Just as animals react to the faintest rustle or refraction of light, children will be invited to trust the sensitivity of their own bodies – to act on feeling rather than experience.
